How to Make a Quidditch Stand

Note: Make all of the long folds on the same side of the card stock. Refer to the diagram below.

  1. Cut 1" off of the piece of card stock, lengthwise, so that it measures 7 1/2" x 11".
  2. Fold 1: With a ruler and scoring tool, score and fold 1/2" along the long edge of the card stock.
  3. Fold 2: Bring the left edge of the long side of the card stock to fold 1 and fold again.
  4. Fold 3: Unfold, and bring the left edge of the card stock to fold 2 and fold.
  5. Fold 4: Unfold and fold the right edge of the stock over so that folds 1 and 2 line up.
  6. Fold 5: This forms the roof. On the other side of the card stock, score and fold across the short side of the paper, about 1 3/8" from the edge.
  7. Fold 6: On the same side of the paper as the roof fold, score the card stock between folds 2 and 4, measuring 1 3/4" from the roof fold. Do not fold yet.
  8. Mark and cut out the areas shown in gray on the diagram. The shape doesn't need to be exact.
  9. Now fold the card stock flat along all of the long folds. Mark and cut 2 lines from the roof fold to form the roof through all layers of the paper. Trim the tab (between fold 1 and the edge of the paper) so it doesn't come above the roof fold.
  10. Unfold and color as desired.
  11. Tape the left edge against fold 1 and fold and tape the roof pieces in along the roof fold.
  12. Finish by cutting along the roof fold where indicated, folding and taping the seating section in along fold 6.

This simple paper folded project helps to brings the fantasy game of quidditch into the real world. The real world is much richer as a result of J.K. Rowling's imagination. Imagination should have a place in everyone's life.
